Stone design company Euromarmi is a new entrant to the UK construction market and has been appointed by the client (Alrov) and/or architect (Chipperfield) on the Café Royal project in central London. In order to meet the scheduled start-on-site date, Euromarmi had to pre-qualify as a preferred supplier with the principal contractor, Mace. wep:HSE used its extensive knowledge of the Mace supplier pre-qualification process to support Euromarmi through the process, which involved proving competence with evidence that all internal systems, from insurance and resourcing to health, safety and environment, met the UK industry’s requirements.

Having ensured Euromarmi was able to start work on site, wep:HSE now provides on-going support, producing performance reports, attending meetings, visiting the site and advising on health, safety and environment improvements so that its pre-qualified status is maintained. wep:HSE also conducts site safety tours and engages all trade contractors on site, supporting them to address any health and safety concerns raised by the client.

wep:HSE profiled all Euromarmi employees working on the project and facilitated the necessary training so everyone received the correct CSCS (Construction Skills Certification Scheme) card. wep:HSE also delivered CSCS, first aid at work and CITB SMSTS & SSSTS training for managers and supervisors in the Euromarmi offices in Italy, significantly reducing costs and cutting through the red tape so the company could start work on site as soon as it pre-qualified.
